What is your emergency?”

If you’ve ever called 911 you may have heard these words. But what you may not know, is that the person on the other end of that call is not only your first line of defense and emergency responder, but they could also save your life. 


For more than 1 years, the name Dominique Mathis has been a noteworthy leader, trainer, and trailblazer in emergency communications management. She is a professional in her field and leads more than 400 Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) staff members. 


In 2018, she received the prestigious Florida Sheriff’s Association Dispatcher of the Year award. This is the highest honor out of 67 counties. Mathis, the first Black female and only individual from her agency to receive this esteemed recognition. 


Her personal story, and trauma that she witnessed and experienced in her own life made her want to “break the cycle” and help victims who need assistance. She has taken that courage and passion turning it into a career. Her vision, “HELLO, 911! ™” builds on her foundational platform to not only share her story, but also create a legacy. Her purpose is to craft online classes and a training program that teaches Telecommunicators how to manage critical incidents while providing stellar customer service to their consumers. HELLO, 911! ™ will facilitate proper training to all operators, administrators, and staff in the emergency management and telecommunications sectors.


Passionate and efficient, Mathis believes in the importance of, “share your story every chance you get, because you may not get to share it one day.” She is an expert, specializing in communications operations, training, development, emergency support services, consulting, facilitating, and human resources.  


She holds a Bachelor of Science in Exceptional Student Education K-12 from Miami Dade College. A Master of Science from Florida International University in Adult Education and Human Resource Development.
